Why WoodFuel?
|
Wood Fuels and in particular wood pellets have the following advantages:-
- Bei
ng a source of renewable energy, wood pellets are exempt from the Climate Change Levy.
- The wide range of grants available for all Wood Fuels
- Less volume to transport and store (due to higher energy density) which means fewer deliveries for larger installations.
- Consistent size and moisture content
- Versatility - can be used in stoves and boilers
- Lower emissions CO2 neutral
- Exempt from CO2 tax
- The easy maintenance, fuel storage, and supply.
- The cleanliness of the system - bio-fuels do not produce fumes, soot and
associated problems, they burn down to bio-degradable ash and there are
no associated toxicities.
- The Pellets are easy to handle, clean, free-flowing,
no contamination from spillage, clean residues.
The energy efficiency
 |
Wood is a renewable source of energy because the carbon dioxide emitted when the wood is burned has been taken out of the atmosphere by the growing plant. Replacing fossil fuel with wood fuel will typically reduce net CO2 emissions by over 90%.
This applies to all forms of wood fuel, including wood pellets, which are usually made of highly compressed waste sawdust. The use of wood pellets for heating is well established in countries such as North America, Sweden, Austria and Denmark and is now becoming more popular in the UK. Practically no sulphur dioxide, one of the main causes of acid rain and thus of forests dying, is emitted when pellets are burned and the ash is an excellent natural fertilizer for fields and gardens.
Heating with wood has many advantages one of which is that, the fuel is mainly produced locally. |

Wood pellets are available in small 1 kilogram bags or large deliveries up to 1 tonne. |
